We can provide secure storage of bags for Tasmanian Wilderness Experience clients whilst you enjoy your walk in the wilderness. If you have already booked with us and wish to add this service on, please reach out to us here.

Bag Storage Policy

Cost
$35.00 per bag (up to 15kg) for the duration of your walk
Bags must not exceed 15kg.

Bag weight

All bags stored with us must not exceed 15kg for the health and safety of our staff when handling. All bags are weighed when handed over to staff by clients, and weights recorded on the bag tag. If a bag exceeds 15kg, excess weight will be placed in a dry bag provided by Tasmanian Wilderness Experiences and number of excess bags will be charged to the client accordingly.

All excess contents will be emptied from the dry bags upon collection. The dry bag remains the property of Tasmanian Wilderness Experiences.

 

Bag labelling procedure

All bags must be clearly labelled with the following information:

Side A:        Group Leader’s name (i.e. person who booked the service)
Booking Reference Number
Mobile Number
Where we’ll be meeting you with your bag
Bag number (e.g. 1/5, 2/5, 3/5 etc).

Side B:        Date we’ll be meeting you with your bag

Par Avion Customers

We will also happily collect bags from Par Avion, however you MUST email us to tell us once the bag is at Par Avion ready for collection. Failure to do so may result in your bags not being collected, in this instance no refunds for bag storage will be given and rides back to Hobart (from Par Avion) will be changed if requested.

 

Frequently Asked Questions

My bag is over 15kg, what do I do?

If you have a second bag, please pack any excess weight/items into another bag. Note we charge per bag, so any extra bags will be charged at $35 per bag. If you don’t have another bag, we provide dry bags for clients.

 

I have booked 1x 15kg bag, but wish to store 2x smaller bags with a combined weight of under 15kg. Will you just charge for 1 bag? 

No. We charge per bag, otherwise your bags may get lost in the system and the second may get overlooked by our drivers who are searching for 1x bag as booked. If you leave more bags with us than what’s been booked, we will charge you for all extra bags at $35 per bag, regardless of combined weight.

 

My bag is very small and hardly weighs anything. Will I be charged for bag storage if I leave it with you? 

Yes. We don’t have a minimum weight limit on bags, and charge per bag regardless of size.

 

Can I just leave my bag on the bus, and save you the trouble of storing it for me as per your storage policy? 

No. We have multiple vehicles servicing multiple routes and all available space is needed for each service. The bus returning to collect you will most likely be a different bus. Any bags left in our care will be charged accordingly to the client.

 

I haven’t booked a bag, but find myself with extra stuff I don’t want to walk with. Can you still store a bag for me? 

Yes, we are happy to add bag storage to your booking on the day. On pick up, our driver will provide you with a bag tag, and weigh your bag ready for storage with us. Our administration staff will then adjust your booking, charge your card for the applicable bag storage fee, and provide an updated booking confirmation via email.

 

I don’t wish to pay for bag storage. What are my options?

Depending on your situation, many hotels provide bag storage for their guests free of charge. Please discuss this with your accommodation provider. Alternatively, you can walk with your excess luggage.

 

I’m flying with Par Avion, and have selected bag storage with my transfer from Cockle Creek with you. How does this work? 

Our bag storage service for South Coast Track clients includes a complimentary pickup service of your bag from Par Avion. On the day you fly out with Par Avion, please tag your bag correctly (see above) and email or text us when your bag is ready for collection. We will then collect your bag from Par Avion’s hangar, store it in our warehouse, and then have it on the bus for you when we see you at Cockle Creek.

If you’re walking the South Coast Track in the opposite direction (Cockle Creek to Melaleuca), we will store your bag up until your planned date of departure from Melaleuca, then drop it in Par Avion’s hangar ready for your arrival and collection.

Why charge for bag storage?

This is a service we know is welcomed and appreciated by our clients, and we have a number of processes involved in handling your bags stored with us. Firstly, our warehouse facility is secure and under 24/7 surveillance for your peace of mind. We make sure the bags you store with us are back on the bus for your return service, which can take some careful organisation and administration. From time to time we do need to move services for clients who experience changes to their walk due to weather or injury, so we make sure the bag follows along with this and changes are made to driver manifests and bag labels. This constant management is all part of our service.
